About
Annika Andersson, known professionally as Annikaprana, is a Swedish contemporary artist based in Stockholm.
Working in a style she describes as Contemporary Atmospheric Realism, Annika creates narrative bodies of work that combine realism with expressive abstraction. Inspired by the quiet authenticity of animals, her lifelong love of flowers, and the transformative qualities of light and atmosphere, her paintings explore creativity, imagination and the emotional connection between people and the natural world.
Her artistic process begins with a vision—often inspired by a photograph, a memory or a composition she has created herself. From there, each painting evolves intuitively through abstract collage, expressive texture and layered oil painting before realistic forms gradually emerge. This balance between planning and discovery gives her work its distinctive atmosphere and sense of visual storytelling.
The artist name Annikaprana reflects the Sanskrit word Prana, meaning life force. For Annika, it also represents what she calls The Light—the quiet life energy and creative flow that guides her artistic process and has become a central theme throughout her work.
Originally from the coastal town of Båstad in southern Sweden, Annika spent many years as an entrepreneur and creative professional before beginning a new chapter as a full-time artist. Since 2025 she has continued to develop her artistic practice through the internationally recognised Mastery Program at Milan Art Institute, where she refined both her technical skills and her distinctive artistic voice.
The paintings created throughout the Mastery Program form Creating a Life in the Light—an ongoing body of work exploring creativity, personal growth and the journey of building a life as an artist.
Today she works between her Stockholm studio and her countryside studio overlooking Lake Mälaren, where she continues to develop cohesive collections of original oil paintings. Alongside her original works, selected paintings are also available as museum-quality Fine Art Prints, allowing her art to become part of everyday life while always remaining rooted in the original artwork.
Having spent many years as a creative entrepreneur before dedicating herself fully to her artistic practice, Annika has only recently begun sharing her work with the public. For her, exhibiting is not simply about showing paintings — it is about inviting others into an ongoing conversation about creativity, light and what it means to build a life around what you love.
